The MotionXcellence Sports Performance Lab is staffed with leading medical and sports performance experts to provide you with scientifically and/or medically-based recommendations and treatments. In addition to our industry-leading founders, the entire staff at the MotionXcellence Sports Performance Lab is comprised of Masters-trained Exercise Physiologists who will oversee your evaluation and take you through the process.
Philip Skiba, D.O., M.S., Medical Director

Dr. Philip Skiba graduated from medical school in June of 2003, and trained in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Georgetown University / National Rehabilitation Hospital, in Washington DC. He then completed residency training in Family Medicine and a fellowship in Sports Medicine, and is board certified in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Skiba is an attending physician at The Jersey Shore Sports Medicine Center, where he focuses on the non-surgical management of sports injuries, as well as athlete training, health, rehabilitation and wellness. He is also an attending physician at Meridian Occupational Health, where he provides care to "industrial athletes" such as firefighters and police officers.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Skiba is the CEO of PhysFarm Training Systems. He personally coaches a number of elite and world class athletes across multiple countries, including world champions and Olympians.
Heather Kennedy, M.A., RCEP, Exercise Physiologist

Heather received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from the University of Delaware, and her Master of Arts degree in Exercise Science from Montclair State University. She is an ACSM Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist, a Certified Wellness Coach and carries a Primary Group Exercise Certification from AFAA. Before coming to work at the lab, Ms. Kennedy supervised a Meridian Life fitness facility, worked in corporate health and wellness promotion for MSNBC, and was also an exercise physiologist in the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
Carla Pedreiro, B.S., M.S., Exercise Physiologist

Carla received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from the University of Rhode Island in 2005. She is a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor through AFAA and a certified Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program instructor. She is currently working on completing her Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from Kean University.
Ken Souchek, D.P.T., Physical Therapist & Clinical Program Director
Ken holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Rocky Mountain University. Ken has been a physical therapist for 17 years and has been leading the Rehabilitation and Orthopedic departments at Ocean Medical Center for over 15 years.
Karen Kavanagh, B.S., CPC Administrative Program Director

Karen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Montclair State University, is a Certified Life Coach, Certified AFAA Personal Trainer, as well as, Certified Instructor in Spinning, Yoga & Pilates. The Meridian Life Fitness & Ocean Medical Center Cardiopulmonary Rehab programs have been operating under her direction for over 18 years.
Jacquelyn Brow, M.S., Exercise Physiologist

Jacquelyn received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and her Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from West Virginia University. She is an ACE (American Council on Exercise) Certified Personal Trainer & Certified Group Fitness Instructor and YogaFit Instructor. Before coming to work at the lab, Ms. Brow supervised a Meridian Life Fitness facility, worked as an Exercise Physiologist with the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department at Ocean Medical Center and The General Hospital at Passaic, NJ. Jacquelyn specializes in working with high risk populations.
